At Jiva Yoga Academy, we aim to maintain a professional, respectful, safe, and supportive environment for our students, teachers, and staff. These guidelines are intended to ensure consistency in teaching, communication, student care, and daily operations. They reflect common principles used by established yoga schools, including professional integrity, student safety, confidentiality, appropriate teacher-student boundaries, and continuing professional development. Before starting employment at Jiva Yoga Academy every teacher must read this.
1. Professional Conduct
- All teachers are expected to conduct themselves with honesty, respect, kindness, and professionalism.
- Teachers should maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with other teachers, management, staff, and students.
- Teachers should represent Jiva Yoga Academy professionally both inside and outside the school.
- Personal disagreements or concerns should be discussed privately with management rather than in front of students.
- Teachers should avoid inappropriate language, arguments, discrimination, harassment, or behaviour that may make students or colleagues uncomfortable.
2. Teacher Payment Policy
- All teachers of Jiva Yoga Academy will be paid on the 7th of the following month for the teaching provided during the previous month.
- Notice Period for Teachers:
If a teacher does not wish to continue teaching at Jiva Yoga Academy for the following month, they must inform the management at least one month in advance. Failure to provide the required notice may result in the withholding or adjustment of payment, subject to the terms agreed upon with the teacher.
3. Teaching Responsibilities
- Teachers must arrive at least 10–15 minutes before their scheduled class and be prepared before students arrive.
- Classes should start and finish according to the assigned timetable.
- Any changes to the class schedule, syllabus, or teaching method should be discussed with management in advance.
- Teachers should teach within the scope of their qualifications and experience and should not make unsupported medical or therapeutic claims.
- Teachers should provide appropriate modifications for students with different levels of experience and physical abilities. Safe teaching and appropriate student adjustments are widely recognized professional expectations.
4. Student Safety & Physical Adjustments
- Teachers should observe students carefully and provide appropriate instructions and modifications.
- Physical adjustments should be made respectfully and, where appropriate, with the student’s consent.
- Teachers should never pressure a student to perform a posture that causes pain or discomfort.
5. Teacher-Student Boundaries
- Teachers must maintain professional boundaries with students at all times.
- Teachers should not use their position to seek personal, financial, romantic, or other inappropriate relationships with students.
- Teachers should not borrow money from or enter private financial arrangements with students.
6. Attendance & Leave
- Teachers are expected to be punctual and attend all classes assigned to them.
- If a teacher is unable to attend a scheduled class, they should inform management as early as possible so that a suitable replacement can be arranged.
- Repeated lateness, unexplained absence, or last-minute cancellations may affect future teaching assignments.
7. Communication
- Teachers should communicate with students in a polite, clear, and respectful manner.
- Teachers should not make promises or commitments on behalf of Jiva Yoga Academy without prior approval from management.
